Maui wants to go fishing with his brothers but his brothers refuse. They think he is too much trouble and is too young. He sits down and makes a plan. He started weaving flax together to make a fishing rod. He gets his magical hook that his grandmother gave him and ties it to the end.

The next morning Maui  got up before his brothers and snuck in the waka and  hid. The four brothers didn't see him. When the brothers got up they moved the waka into the water, “It’s heavier than usual,’’ they said to each other. They then got over it and got into the waka.    Then they paddle out to sea.

A while later Maui jumped up from the waka and he surprised his brothers and shouted, “I’m Here .“ He lowered his rod and made a chant with it and brought up a giant ika. Then Maui went to go get his hook from the head of the giant ika and he told his four brothers not to cut the fish. The four brothers cut up the fish anyway. They cut pieces of the fish for their whanau and themselves. Because Maui's brothers chopped the fish up that's what created the hills in the North Island. The giant ika became the the North island of Aotearoa.

About our Play

In our play I think that our team did ok but I think that the play didn't really involve much actions and some of us didn't get much to say. But I did enjoy it. It was fun getting to act and work in a team. We contributed by bringing props from our houses.
Next time we need to do more actions.
