Best Part of Me - Poetry/ short description writing task

Term 2 Weeks 2-3

Purpose of this piece of writing is to:

Learning Intentions

I am learning to use language features to make my writing interesting and engaging for the reader.

I am learning to think carefully about the words I use so that my writing is descriptive and engaging for the reader.

I am learning to add an appropriate visual to my work

I will be successful when I can show….

-I have used some language features to make my writing interesting and engaging (smile, metaphor, alliteration, onomatopoeia, rhyme)

-I have carefully chosen some interesting words to include in my writing

-I have some descriptive words in my writing (adjectives)

-I have added a photo to my writing

These past few weeks room seven have been doing writing about best part of me. I chose my legs here is my writing and a photo.

My legs are short, tanned and muscley. I aroha my legs. They help me get from place to place like a machine. They allow me to jump, run, walk and do gymnastics. They are as strong and as fast as a cheetah! I get growing pains in my legs but I do not grow, my legs are pegs.

Here are our learning intentions for the rocky shore unit we did this this term. I have highlighted green the goals I think I met.

Quick wrights term 4.

We have been working on Quick writes. This is where you are given some thing to wright

about (a writing prompted) and you only have 10 minutes to write as much as possible using 

this writing prompted. For our writing prompts we will use either images or shot videos.

1) Spider man!

Spider man!

As I walked into the city of New york you could feel

the calm cool wind as it hit me. It was calm and cool but

all of sudden a train came flying past me and spiderman leaped

of the train, flop he got squashed under the train and smudged on the train tracks! The people in the train didn't even care. No more spider man!

2)  A Stormy Day.

As I walked outside the house I could feel the cool gust of wind blowing me away and the heavy rain bulking my eye sight. Suddenly  crash, bash boom,creek thunder and lightning started to appear also the outdoor furniture started to get bashed around. I rushed inside to make sure I wouldn't get struck by the lighting but it sounded like the roof was going to fall off! All of a sudden shatter, the glass shattered I went to see what was going on when the heavy rain was getting in I didn’t know what to do I just grabbed a sheet and covered it but it didn't work!!!!!!!!!

Tomato fight.

Tomato fight  is a fun event held in Spain where people throw tomatoes at each other. Some people wear goggles To protect their eyes from the squirt of the tomato juice. Just imagine the Icky pulp of the tomato squeezing between your feet and the tomato seeds stuck in your hair. Being covered in tomatoes is isn't so bad maybe you should try it one day!        

        

Beekeeper

Quick Write Number One - The Beekeeper

For the next two weeks we are going to work on ‘Quick Writes.’  This is where you are given something to write about (a writing prompt) and you only have 10mins to write as much as possible using this writing prompt.

For our writing prompts we will use either images or short videos.

The purpose of this is to practise writing fluently.

When we look at our writing prompt we will have about 10-15 mins to discuss it and brainstorm some ideas and vocabulary.   

Our learning goals are to:

-write a description, using powerful words and phrases

-include some Te Reo Māori

-carefully check that our sentences make sense and have correct punctuation and spelling.

When we are writing we need to think about…

1. What do I want my reader to see?

) What do I want my reader to hear?

3) What do I want my reader to smell?

Tips:

-look closely at the picture or video

-think about the three key questions and the learning goals

-give yourself time to plan and write

The Beekeeper.

As the bees buzzed away the beautiful blue flowers on the trees blossomed open. The honey had  a strong scent of sweetness which filled the air.

Robot Rampage.

This term we have been learning how to right a narrative writing. This is my work.

Larry and Barry(best friends) loved  mowing the lawns, they would mow the lawns all day. But one day Larry and Barry got SICK of mowing lawns they wanted to stop so they made one red jinormous

Robot thingie migingo! That mows lawns! They stuck a red face on it  and it reminded them of Larry the lawnmower.The TV show that was invented  for four year olds.So they called it Larry the lawnmower.  They flicked the switch on the remote and let it mow the lawns. Te ra (the sun) was shining and they were tired from last night's sleepover so they drifted of to sleep. Both Larry and Barry woke up at the same time to hear that their was people screaming their heads of around the neighborhood!! Larry and Barry jumped out of their seats both frightened, they were very similar! When they had seen what Larry the lawnmower had done they were shocked because their million dollar houses were destroyed! Their walls had come off their roof and they  had fallen down! “OH NO”! Said Larry and Barry,  they took one quick look at the robot,they didn’t realise that there was a whole row of robots behind the actual one that Larry and Barry created  all chanting kill them kill them kill them!!!! Urgently Larry and Barry jumped into a stranger's car and found the keys on the floor so they drove as far as they could, they actually found some tickets in the car to go to Taupo they couldn’t wait, they drove of to the airport they took the tickets and away they went they got on the plane. Meanwhile when  they were   traveling everybody in the plane,   seemed to have  really scratchy voices. Since there was 3 per seat there was another person sitting next to Barry. Suddenly the person  jumped up and tied them together and took them out of the plane just as they were landing . A part of its body came of and stabbed them to death No more Larry and Barry.

At school we have been learning about elections. Now we have lots of knowledge about this election.
We got to create our own parties. This is my party
