Quick wrights term 4.

We have been working on Quick writes. This is where you are given some thing to wright

about (a writing prompted) and you only have 10 minutes to write as much as possible using 

this writing prompted. For our writing prompts we will use either images or shot videos.

1) Spider man!

Spider man!

As I walked into the city of New york you could feel

the calm cool wind as it hit me. It was calm and cool but

all of sudden a train came flying past me and spiderman leaped

of the train, flop he got squashed under the train and smudged on the train tracks! The people in the train didn't even care. No more spider man!

2)  A Stormy Day.

As I walked outside the house I could feel the cool gust of wind blowing me away and the heavy rain bulking my eye sight. Suddenly  crash, bash boom,creek thunder and lightning started to appear also the outdoor furniture started to get bashed around. I rushed inside to make sure I wouldn't get struck by the lighting but it sounded like the roof was going to fall off! All of a sudden shatter, the glass shattered I went to see what was going on when the heavy rain was getting in I didn’t know what to do I just grabbed a sheet and covered it but it didn't work!!!!!!!!!

Tomato fight.

Tomato fight  is a fun event held in Spain where people throw tomatoes at each other. Some people wear goggles To protect their eyes from the squirt of the tomato juice. Just imagine the Icky pulp of the tomato squeezing between your feet and the tomato seeds stuck in your hair. Being covered in tomatoes is isn't so bad maybe you should try it one day!

Quick Write Number One - The Beekeeper

For the next two weeks we are going to work on ‘Quick Writes.’  This is where you are given something to write about (a writing prompt) and you only have 10mins to write as much as possible using this writing prompt.

For our writing prompts we will use either images or short videos.

The purpose of this is to practise writing fluently.

When we look at our writing prompt we will have about 10-15 mins to discuss it and brainstorm some ideas and vocabulary.   

Our learning goals are to:

-write a description, using powerful words and phrases

-include some Te Reo Māori

-carefully check that our sentences make sense and have correct punctuation and spelling.

When we are writing we need to think about…

1. What do I want my reader to see?

) What do I want my reader to hear?

3) What do I want my reader to smell?

Tips:

-look closely at the picture or video

-think about the three key questions and the learning goals

-give yourself time to plan and write

The Beekeeper.

As the bees buzzed away the beautiful blue flowers on the trees blossomed open. The honey had  a strong scent of sweetness which filled the air.

Robot Rampage.

This term we have been learning how to right a narrative writing. This is my work.

Larry and Barry(best friends) loved  mowing the lawns, they would mow the lawns all day. But one day Larry and Barry got SICK of mowing lawns they wanted to stop so they made one red jinormous

Robot thingie migingo! That mows lawns! They stuck a red face on it  and it reminded them of Larry the lawnmower.The TV show that was invented  for four year olds.So they called it Larry the lawnmower.  They flicked the switch on the remote and let it mow the lawns. Te ra (the sun) was shining and they were tired from last night's sleepover so they drifted of to sleep. Both Larry and Barry woke up at the same time to hear that their was people screaming their heads of around the neighborhood!! Larry and Barry jumped out of their seats both frightened, they were very similar! When they had seen what Larry the lawnmower had done they were shocked because their million dollar houses were destroyed! Their walls had come off their roof and they  had fallen down! “OH NO”! Said Larry and Barry,  they took one quick look at the robot,they didn’t realise that there was a whole row of robots behind the actual one that Larry and Barry created  all chanting kill them kill them kill them!!!! Urgently Larry and Barry jumped into a stranger's car and found the keys on the floor so they drove as far as they could, they actually found some tickets in the car to go to Taupo they couldn’t wait, they drove of to the airport they took the tickets and away they went they got on the plane. Meanwhile when  they were   traveling everybody in the plane,   seemed to have  really scratchy voices. Since there was 3 per seat there was another person sitting next to Barry. Suddenly the person  jumped up and tied them together and took them out of the plane just as they were landing . A part of its body came of and stabbed them to death No more Larry and Barry.

Maui Legends

As part of Matariki we re-read the legend of Maui. We then retold a legend
and created art work. Below is mine and Phoebes  work.

Maui’s Fish

Long, long ago Maui’s brothers said that they were going fishing so Maui said that he wanted to go with them but they said no. So that night Maui hid in his brothers waka, so that in the morning when he woke up he could go fishing  with his brothers. That morning the brothers set off on to the ocean but the brothers didn’t notice Maui until he jumped out of his hiding space. The brothers allowed Maui to fish with them but they didn’t let him use any bait so he got his grandfather’s magical jawbone and stabbed himself in the nose so that he could use the blood as bait so that the fish would eat it and the jawbone would hook into the mouth of the fish. Maui then caught something on his fishing line and Maui noticed that the fish was not just a normal fish it was something giant. So he tugged and tugged and then he pulled and pulled.  Maui knew he could pull it up and he wanted to prove to his brothers that he can fish and that he has the strength to pull what ever was down there up so he started to pull like he has never before and he felt something coming up but before he could guess what it was he had pulled up a giant stingray. Maui’s brothers were jealous that he pulled the stingray up so they started to stab the stingray. Now the stingray Maui pulled up is what we call the North Island and they called there waka the South Island and Stewart Island is known as the anchor.

Science Term 2 2017

This term we have been doing science. We have been learning about the water cycle and states of matter.  Here is some of my work. 

Why it is a good idea to have pets!

We have been having a go at writing a piece of persuasive writing. 

Here is my piece of writing about why we should have pets.

Title A Short Statement about the topic. eg. ‘Rugby League Is A Great Sport’	Pets Are Awesome
Overview/ Statement of position A brief statement of your view about the topic.  What you believe or want to argue.	It is totally a good idea to have pets!!!
Series of Arguments Reasons Your points supporting your view about the topic.  Your arguments to support your statement and information to support these arguments. Remember -argument -supporting detail, reasons, examples	Firstly pets make you smile like when they achieve something. They are loving little cute creatures you need to have pets I strongly advise you to!! when you get home from school or work it is nice to see your pet, it gets pretty lonely when you're not around
	Secondly, another reason why you should have pets is because cats can hunt and keep mice and rats away from your house. Dogs  can be trained to hunt wild animals like pigs and deer. In some countries dogs are trained to look after sheep farms so the wolves don't attack the sheep.
	Thirdly. When you are very sick and there's a slight chance that you think you might have cancer, dogs can sniff out cancer for you. Dogs are very important to a blind person because they can guide the blind person around and make the person happy because they can get out of the house and do some normal things. Pets can comfort people who have sad things happen to them.
	Finally, I think it is good idea to have pets because they can get you up and moving for exercise, and dogs love exercise. Some pets don’t need exercise but having one that does gets you of the couch and out moving.
Concluding statement Summing it up.  A summary of your arguments and your view on the topic.	In conclusion I strongly believe that everybody should have pets because they make us smile, they keep mice away from our homes and keep us fit. For these reasons everybody that doesn’t  get allergies should have a pet.
